Important Things to Know
Free report available once per calendar year
The RBI mandates one free full credit report per calendar year (January–December) from each bureau. If you have already used your CIBIL free quota this year, it resets on 1st January of the following year.
Checking your own score does not lower it
Viewing your own credit report is a "soft enquiry" with no impact on your score whatsoever. Only lenders performing credit checks during loan applications create "hard enquiries" which can marginally affect scores.
Keep your PAN card ready
Your PAN card number is required for accurate identity matching at CIBIL. Without PAN, the credit report cannot be generated as it is the primary financial identity document in India.
Report covers all your credit history
The full CIBIL report includes your score, all loan accounts, credit card history, repayment track record, enquiries made by lenders, and any defaults or settlements. Review it carefully for any errors.
Other Free Ways to Check Your Credit Score
Each of the four RBI-licensed credit bureaus provides one free report per year. You can check all four.
Most widely used bureau in India. Accessed by the majority of banks and NBFCs when evaluating loan applications.
Second most widely referenced bureau. Some lenders like Kotak and IndusInd also pull Equifax reports.
Global bureau with a strong India presence. Good for checking discrepancies across bureau reports.
Strong data on MSME and rural segments. Also tracks agricultural loans and microfinance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does checking my CIBIL score reduce it?
No. Checking your own credit score is classified as a "soft enquiry" and has absolutely no impact on your credit score. Only when a bank or lender checks your score (a "hard enquiry") for a loan application can it marginally affect your score.
What if I already used my free CIBIL report this year?
Each credit bureau provides one free full report per calendar year (January to December). If you have already used your CIBIL free quota for the current year, your next free report opens on 1st January of the following year. You may also check the other bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and CRIF High Mark — each of which also provides one free report per year under the same RBI mandate.
Will you see or store my score or personal details?
No. We redirect you directly to TransUnion CIBIL's official website. The entire check process takes place on CIBIL's platform. We never see, collect, or store your PAN, personal details, or credit score at any point.
How long does the process usually take?
Typically 5–8 minutes. You register/log in on cibil.com, enter your PAN, name, date of birth and mobile number, complete an OTP verification, select the free plan, and then view and download your score and full report. The process is entirely handled by CIBIL.
Can I check scores from other bureaus as well?
Yes. India has four licensed credit bureaus — TransUnion CIBIL, Equifax, Experian, and CRIF High Mark. Each offers one free report per year under RBI regulations. You can check all four for a complete picture of your credit profile.
